Personal Information Protection Policy

KAKEN's basic policy on the protection of personal information in our possession is established to ensure KAKEN fulfills our social responsibility as a pharmaceutical company providing pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and other products relating to life science, and live up to society's trust in KAKEN.

  1. Acquisition of personal information
    KAKEN acquires personal information by fair and lawful means.
  2. Disclosure of purpose for using personal information
    In principle, when KAKEN acquires personal information, KAKEN gives prior notice to the party providing such information of our purpose for using it.
  3. Use of personal information
    KAKEN uses personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose indicated to the party providing it. KAKEN does not provide personal information to any third party without the prior consent of the party providing it. KAKEN does not provide Specific Personal Information to any third party except in those cases allowed under the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in the Administrative Procedure (“Act on the Use of Numbers”).
  4. Joint use of personal information
    KAKEN gives prior notice to the party providing personal information in the case that KAKEN jointly uses such information with a third party.
  5. Protecting the safety of personal information
    KAKEN strives to maintain accurate and up to date personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose for using such information. KAKEN furthermore takes appropriate safety management measures to prevent leaks, loss, destruction, and the like to personal information.
  6. Supervision of employees and contractors
    KAKEN practices necessary and appropriate supervision of its executive officers and employees in order to manage the safety of personal information. Moreover, in the event that KAKEN outsources the handling of personal information to a third party, KAKEN practices necessary and appropriate supervision of the contracted third party in order to manage the safety of the contracted personal information.
  7. Disclosure of personal information
    When a request is received from an individual regarding notice of the purpose of use, disclosure, amendment and suspension of use, etc., of his/her personal information in our possession, KAKEN will respond to such request in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Responding to inquiries
    KAKEN provides a service desk that responds in good faith to inquiries and complaints about the handling of personal information and requests for personal information disclosure or correction.
  9. Organization for personal information protection
    KAKEN appoints a Personal Information Manager and practices appropriate management of personal information, primarily through the Personal Information Department.
  10. Establishment of personal information protection rules
    KAKEN respects the letter and spirit of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the Act on the Use of Numbers. Moreover, to ensure that KAKEN uses and manages personal information as intended by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the Act on the Use of Numbers, KAKEN has established the KAKEN Personal Information Protection Policy (“this Policy”) and implements necessary and appropriate education for our executive officers and employees about the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Act on the Use of Numbers, and this Policy and its detailed rules, performing inspections, etc., as occasion demands, and making any necessary improvements.
  11. Training
    To ensure appropriate management of personal information, KAKEN implements necessary and appropriate training for our executive officers and employees about the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Act on the Use of Numbers, and this Policy and its detailed rules.
  12. Specific Personal Information
    KAKEN handles Specific Personal Information appropriately, in accordance with the Act on the Use of Numbers.
  13. Legal compliance
    KAKEN endeavors to protect personal information by complying with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Act on the Use of Numbers, and other laws and regulations.
