KAKEN's basic policy on the protection of personal information in its possession was established to ensure that KAKEN fulfills its social responsibility as a pharmaceutical company and lives up to the standards that the society expects in KAKEN.

1. Acquisition of personal information

KAKEN will acquire personal information by appropriate and fair means.

2. Purpose for using personal information

KAKEN will specify the purpose of use prior to acquiring your personal information.

3. Use of personal information

KAKEN will use your personal information within the scope of the purpose of use that KAKEN has previously specified. KAKEN will not provide your personal information to any third party without your prior consent. KAKEN will not provide Specific Personal Information to any third party except in those cases allowed under the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in the Administrative Procedure (“Act on the Use of Numbers”).

4. Joint use of personal information

KAKEN will notify you prior to sharing your personal information with a third party.

5. Protection of personal information

KAKEN will strive to maintain personal information accurate and up to date in order to achieve the purpose of use. KAKEN will maintain appropriate safeguards to prevent the leakage, loss or damage of personal information.

6. Supervision of employees and contractors

KAKEN will exercise necessary and appropriate supervision over its management and employees in order to ensure the security of personal information. If KAKEN outsources the handling of personal information to a contractor, KAKEN will exercise necessary and appropriate supervision over such contractor to ensure the security of such personal information.

7. Disclosure etc. of personal information

KAKEN will take appropriate measure in accordance with applicable laws and regulations upon receipt of request for a notice of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction or suspension of use of your personal information in its possession.

8. Inquiries and complaints

KAKEN has established a service desk in order to receive and respond in good faith to inquiries and complaints concerning its handling of personal information and requests for disclosure or correction of your personal information.

9. Personal information protection regime

KAKEN will assign a Personal Information Manager in order to ensure appropriate management of personal information.

10. Establishment of personal information protection rules

KAKEN respects the spirit of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the Act on the Use of Numbers. In order to ensure that KAKEN handles personal information as intended by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the Act on the Use of Numbers, KAKEN has established the KAKEN Personal Information Protection Policy and personal information protection rules of KAKEN (collectively “the Policy”). KAKEN instructs its management and employees concerning the Policy as part of its continuing efforts to manage personal information appropriately.

11. Training

To ensure appropriate management of personal information, KAKEN has implemented necessary and appropriate training for its management and employees about protection of personal information.

12. Specific Personal Information

KAKEN will handle Specific Personal Information in accordance with the Act on the Use of Numbers.

13. Legal compliance

KAKEN will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and the Act on the Use of Numbers in order to protect personal information.
